As we step into a new year, I’m proud to reflect on the extraordinary strength, scope, and impact of the Department of Medicine at WashU Medicine. Together, we are advancing discovery, shaping the future of patient care, and training the next generation of physicians and scientists at a scale unmatched across the US. This past year marked a significant milestone for WashU Medicine, with the highest level of NIH funding in our history. These grants fuel basic, clinical, and translational research that is improving lives locally and globally. More importantly, they reflect the creativity, rigor, and perseverance of our faculty, staff, and trainees—and underscore the national and international impact of the work happening across our department every day.
