Dr. Jenny McKenzie joined the division within the Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences (ICTS) as the Co-Director of the Research Development Program as well as the Precision Health Program Scientist. She directs the Research Forum Program, Scientific Editing Service, and the WashU Grants Library. Dr. McKenzie holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from WashU and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the WashU Medicine Department of Orthopedic Surgery.
For more than a decade, Dr. McKenzie studied the biological mechanisms by which different cell types (bone cells, immune cells and vascular cells) contribute to bone healing after a fracture or stress fracture in the lab of Dr. Matt Silva (Orthopedic Surgery). In 2022, Dr. McKenzie transitioned to the ICTS as the Precision Health Program Scientist where her contributions span precision health, genomic research, and translational science. In 2025, Dr. McKenzie expanded her role in the ICTS as the Co-Director of the Research Development Program.
